With Five Lights and Phoenix Karts supporting the final round sees TEKA head to one of our favourite tracks, with a total resurface it’s super smooth and even quicker! And its not just the drivers who love Orange as it provides the perfect view of the track and country side for support crew and spectators! Qualifying set to be exciting involving all drivers with only 5 mins each to nail a hot lap. Presentation for Tamworth will feature Saturday afternoon as the day comes to a close as the anticipation builds for the Grand Final. 

There a few battles happening down the Championship ladder to keep a close eye on! The obvious one is at the top where Dynamite #27 go into the round in the strongest position with a fight for runners up only 5 points the difference, Dormer Racing #84 the slight advantage over El Toro #97. Yellow #81 lead Double D #44 by only 15 points for 4th position.

In A grade Buildline #9 have been the standouts in terms of consistency all year, with ASR Trakka #54 super quick on their day and making a late charge. The pressure is on Trakka with 29 points to bridge the gap and take a win from Buildline. DNT #18 then Yello #3 are racing for the remaining podium position separated by only 7 points.

The B battle for the Championship has been on all year, every round with BMCM #29 just too dominant till now holding a 13 point lead over Wild Racing #41. Currently Yello #80 have one hand on the final spot on the podium 23 points ahead of Dogpen Racing #86.

Dinner is booked for all members at the best pub in town The Canobolas for 7pm.

Great news for TEKA and all endurance karters that the popular chassis known as Phoenix, then Zenspeed, now Phoenix again is back in production. Now in the hands of Steve Cameron and co. the first chassis has come off the production line and looks and absolute class act (the welding quality insane)! Its debut was at Tamworth but kept reasonably quiet as the team tested and look for any gremlins. If you’d like to have a closer look, or are interested in a new roller or bare chassis keep an eye out for the wild new Phoenix livery!

Orange is fast approaching! With a total track resurface and not surprisingly a huge amount of interest already accommodation is extremely tight. We’ve booked our favourite local pub for Sat night and 80 guests, but get onto that accommodation immediately! Camping is also a good alternative. More to come soon!

After arriving to unprecedented rainfall and track flooding the TEKA community alongside Brodie from Tamworth kart track rallied and prepared the track for the conditions we may be faced with. The spirits could not be dampened, particularly with a great choice of pubs nearby to spend the Friday afternoon.
Strangely enough, although rain clouds never far away Sat morning was dry and warm, that was until race start.

With just minutes to go several teams made the change to wets as light rain continued to fall. As the flag dropped and #97, #27 & #18 bolted with #84 in tow and a race duration of only 1.5hrs it became a race of 3 clear strategies… Stick with wets, stick with slicks, and change from wets to slicks at the right time. Although the slicks struggled early at about the 3- – 40mins mark they were equalling wet tyre times although had some ground to make up. As the finish drew near it was clear that #54 who made a tyre change were storming toward the lead bringing #18 with them on the same strategy. #54 taking the win with #27 holding off #18 for 2nd after a 3 laps battle to the flag followed by #9.

Day 2 felt warmer again, competitors ready for anything. The same teams rocket off the start and dominate throughout the race with plenty of great clean racing right through the field. We didn’t see a safety kart all weekend. At the chequered flag #27 take the win followed by their team mates #97 and other championship contenders #84. A great race also by #81 dropped 1 place to 4th outright after suffering a post race MPT penalty.

A grade – #54 and #3 quick all weekend in 1st & 2nd followed by #9
B grade – with the quickest kart on the track late race and 6th outright #29 manage 1st followed by their championship rivals #41 and #86 into 3rd.

There remains a few Championship positions being fought into the final round at the newly resurfaced Orange, which is always a driver and spectator favourite

With all that has been with COVID, the TEKA fraternity has been chewing at the bit to get back on track and round 1 for the 2022 season was back at what some think to be the spiritual home of TEKA, the Newcastle Kart Racing Club track at Cameron Park.

As we have stated previously, four stroke endurance karting is not just alive and well in NSW… its freaking booming!
With 39 karts and more than 100 drivers register for “Blue Mountains Custom Metalworks Lithgow Six Hour”, this is the biggest field TEKA has had in its plus 20 year history!!!

Over a week has passed since we signed off season 2019 at one of our favourites, Orange Kart Club.

When planning our calendar, we do our best to plan around the weather and avoid the colder destinations during winter. When we locked in Orange for our final round in November, you would think it’s safe to assume we’d be greeted by warm weather…. Never have we been so wrong. Scorching high temperatures of 13-14° on Friday and Saturday and a low of -2° on Saturday morning were the reality we faced. Ice like winds and even some rain on Friday afternoon made for far from comfortable spectating.

Palace Shakers Lithgow 444 Race Report

The penultimate round of the 2019 season took us to sunny Lithgow last Sunday, for a 444 lap sprint race at Combined Districts Kart Club.

To this point the season had been dominated by the factory Maverick Karts, notably #58 claiming the first five races of the season including the State Title, while more recently Sister kart #59 took two from two victories at Port Macquarie. Among that, one victory to Preston Hire 15 at Grenfell was the only blemish on the Maverick record.

Once upon a time there lived an evil Ogre in a ditch beside the Port Macquarie hairpin. In a fit of rage, he cast a curse over whoever plugged into his track timing loop. The curse lasted for many years until in rode a handsome knight in his lowered white steed. The handsome knight banished the evil Ogre, lifting the curse and freeing the timing loop for all to enjoy its lap counting brilliance.
