Hi Guys!
Was wondering how long Mikuni Fuel Pumps are meant to last - currently we are findng that we have to repalce the gaskets every race (is this normal??) - I would have thought that a fuel pump would last a bit longer than 8 hours....
Secondly we are also having trouble with our Carbys Venting fuel - it appears as if the needle and seat are allowing the bowl to overfill and vent. If we replace the needle and seat the venting stops (again we are getting about 8 hours life out of this so I am reasonably confident that something is not right)... I have some vauge recollection of reading somehwere about a pressure reduction diaphrgm that can be installed inthe pump to reduce pressure...is this what we need???
FYI we are running Mikuni Pumps with the pulse fed from inlet manifold.
Thanks in advance

Hi You Guys What size fitting do you have in the manifold. If it has too larger orrifice the pump will supply to much fuel for the needle and seat. I used a 8 mm grease nipple with the ball removed. Some people use a mig welder tip. The pump should go for a season without any worries. Have you got the diaphram an gaskets set up correctly. Hope this gives you some direction on your problem. Haven't touched my fuel pumps for over 2 years and the same if not longer on needle and seat, Now they will probably give me grief at the creek...
Dont run ethanol fuel, it kills the rubber componets so I'm told.
